Health Office

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The Health Office at University High School is staffed for approximately 5.5 hours/day by Gail Wylly, Health Clerk, with the assistance of other qualified UNI office personnel; and Azita Ghaderifard, School Nurse, who is on campus approximately two days/week.

If you need to contact the health office staff regarding your child’s health issues, you may call 949-936-7611 or e-mail them at:  and/or

Please provide health office with doctor note and / or clearance to return to school from a medical doctor  if your child has been absent several days for any illness, if you child has been admitted to hospital for any physical or emotional health issues, if your child has visited emergency room for any reason, if your child is required to use any durable medical equipment at school ( wheel chair, crutches, Holter monitor, etc. ), or if they are being excused from physical education for any period of time due to health issues.

Please remember to include the school nurse  in any e-mail you send to the teachers, counselors or assistant principals regarding your student that has health related information.

Should my child stay home?

  • For a temperature of 100 degrees or above. 
  • Student must be fever-free without fever-reducing medication (such as Tylenol or Motrin) for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea. Student may return to school 24 hours after last episode
  • Uncontrollable, infectious cough
  • Suspected communicable disease (i.e. chicken pox, lice)
  • Suspected infection of the eyes (i.e. conjunctivitis), nose, throat (i.e. strep throat), skin (i.e. scabies), or scalp (i.e. lice)
  • A rash of unknown origin – student may return to school when written authorization is received from the health care provider
  • Students must stay home for the first 24 hours on antibiotic therapy
