In early September, letters and transcripts are mailed home to all seniors, verifying graduation status and reminding students of important deadlines and events. In late September, we hold small-group senior meetings and a Senior Parent Coffee to discuss graduation requirements and college admissions. Workshops are offered after school throughout October and November to help with college application questions.
We meet individually with every senior who is applying to private colleges for a "senior interview" to complete a secondary school report and letter of recommendation. Our college and career coordinator is also available to meet with individual seniors about their college applications and choices. Financial aid workshops are held for parents and families during late fall semester.
Midyear reports to private and out of state colleges are completed January through March. Students have the opportunity to take placement assessments for the community colleges on the UHS campus in February and March and attend a community college night in April. Once seniors have received their letters of acceptance, we are available to meet with individuals to discuss their choices. Throughout the spring, we meet with all at risk seniors regarding their graduation plan.
