This is the student family night video shown on April 23, 2014. This video illustrates the wide variety of opportunities exists for students at University High School.
IUSD requires students applying for a parking permit to attend the "Smart Start" driving presentation hosted by the Irvine PD. There will be many dates and locations to choose from in order to fulfill this requirement (See flyer here). After "Smart Start", fill out this application: Uni parking permit application.
(For students who do not qualify for a parking permit)
Students without a University High School parking permit cannot park on campus. These students may park on Rockview Drive, north of Hillgate. This is the ONLY location where students can park off campus without violating city ordinances and risk being towed.
To arrive at this location from Campus Drive, turn onto Cobblestone Way (located between Turtle Rock Drive and University High School), then right on Rockview Drive. Follow Rockview Drive until you pass Hillgate. There is parking on the left side of Rockview Drive.
IMPACT Leadership is University High School’s approach to creating a smooth transition for all incoming freshmen. The goals of the program include developing leadership skills in upperclassmen as well as providing opportunities for incoming freshmen to establish an early connection to University High School.
IMPACT Mentors are selected from an approved list of available candidates through a team leader selection process in early spring. Mentor’s are responsible, confident and reliable students who have demonstrated strong positive character while at University High School.
IMPACT Team Leaders are selected through an application and interview process prior to mentor selection. Team Leaders are responsible, confident and reliable students who can take initiative when needed and have demonstrated strong positive character while at University High School.
IMPACT Program Leaders are selected through an interview process by invitation only. Program Leaders are responsible, confident and reliable students who have demonstrated strong positive character, communication skills, and effective leadership in various organizations while at University High School.
Connections: Connections are designed to help freshmen make a smooth transition to high school. There are approximately 7 to 9 connections during the first semester. Connections are conducted by Team Leaders and Mentors and are held during Office Hours in a designated teacher classroom.
Trainings: Trainings are designed to provide all leaders the foundation for conducting successful Connections. Trainings are required for all students who lead or work with others who lead connections. This includes program leaders, team leaders and mentors. There are several trainings throughout the year. The first trainings are held in August prior to the school year beginning. All trainings are required and are essential for successful connections.
Locations for Connections: Freshman have been assigned to a Mentor Teacher. The IMPACT teacher is identified as your 7th period teacher on your schedule. All freshmen are to report to their assigned teacher's classroom for their IMPACT connections.
